For example, xCures allows Genome Medical to augment the medical records it has for patients - safely, securely, and with patient consent. This additional information helps Genome Medical identify patients who meet clinical trial criteria: a potential benefit for not only the current patient but also future patients. In one instance, a clinical trial needed participants for an ultra-rare disease that affects one in 70,000-100,000 people.
